Return-To-Work Plans
Getting Back to Work
Recovering from a workplace injury can mean adjusting how you move, how long you work and even what duties you perform. A structured return-to-work plan helps you ease back safely, without risking reinjury or aggravating symptoms.
Physiotherapy can support this process through targeted exercises, task-specific rehab and ongoing assessment of your physical capacity. Your physiotherapist will help identify any temporary restrictions and may provide WorkCover-approved reports or updates to your employer or case manager as needed.
Communication is key — keeping everyone on the same page helps ensure your recovery is supported from both a clinical and workplace perspective.
FAQ
Everything You Need To Know
Is physiotherapy covered under WorkCover?
Yes. In most states, physiotherapy is included in approved WorkCover treatment plans. A valid claim and referral are usually required. Services might include pain management, mobility support, and progressive rehabilitation to help you return to work safely and sustainably.
What’s the role of physiotherapy in workplace injury recovery?
Physiotherapists help assess and treat workplace injuries by reducing pain, improving mobility and building strength. The focus is on restoring function and preventing reinjury through individualised treatment programs that may include manual therapy, exercise prescription and ergonomic advice.
Do I need a referral for WorkCover physiotherapy?
Generally, yes. Most WorkCover claims require a referral from a GP or treating doctor to access physiotherapy services. Once approved, the treatment plan is tailored to your injury and regularly reviewed to ensure it aligns with recovery goals and funding requirements.
I've been in a car accident; How do I claim physiotherapy sessions through CTP insurance?
At Action Physiotherapy, all our CTP physiotherapy sessions for motor vehicle injuries can be billed directly to the insurers once we have confirmation of a valid claim number.

Steps to take before Physiotherapy can start:

If your claim is denied, you will be liable for payment of your Physiotherapy sessions.
